Reference For the Film: The SCP Foundation

A big reference for the film I plan to make is from a set of wiki articles Known as the SCP Foundation. (it’s not a real foundation of any kind by the way) It is a collection of stories from anonymous sources about mythical, haunted or supernatural entities that are being contained by this made up organization.

The abundance of material is staggering with over 10,000 articles and so many stories. All of the files are written in a format that represents a scientific paper. So of the many SCP’s I’ve gone to look through, and learned about, I chose one that sounded foreboding enough for reference.

SCP-087 is a staircase in an unknown location. The staircase, for all the foundation has tested, is bottomless. Sending some of their subordinates into the staircase, there are reports of them descending for hours before encountering a reason to return. I thought to use this and another SCP as reference for my film.

SCP-970 is a spatial phenomenon wherein a collection of rooms are looped on themselves. In all cases found, this is by means of a series of doors appearing in the walls, all in a straight line, such that it is possible to walk forwards and end up at the starting position. The alteration to the rooms does not affect neighboring rooms and floors. There is as of yet no known explanation for the appearance of this phenomenon.

My Idea is to blend these two Ideas and make something just as terrifying. The way I want the staircase to work in my film is that the doors all lead to the same area. The floor that the main character starts on will be the same floor that they always end up on as the descend the staircase. However, I want there to be some subtle differences with each floor they go on. As they go deeper they realize the world that they once knew is no longer the same.
